Vintage: 2009
Region: Spain
Grape Variety: Mencia

The small region of Bierzo in the north west of Spain, close to Galicia is well suited to quality wine production. The local Mencia grapes come from the region’s high altitude vineyards with 80 year old vines. The discovery of four bear footprints in the highest area of the vineyard inspired the wines name – Four Steps. Fermentation is in stainless steel, followed by brief ageing in French and American oak. The resulting wine is delicious. Ripe, firm cherry and red berry fruit, soft smooth and juicy, but with good structure and tannins.
