ALTANO DOURO BRANCO, 2021

£10.99Price

Grapes A blend of indigenous Portugese varieties including Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Rabigato, Coódega de Larinho and Moscatel Galego. Description The Douro valley, best known for Port, has been diversifying into unfortified table wine to great acclaim, using many of the same indigenous grapes that go into Port. The Symington family, one of the oldest and most respected wine producing companies in the Douro, produce Altano, named after the thermal winds that blow through the Douro valley. The grapes for this white wine were grown at higher altitude and fermented and matured in temperature-controlled stainless steel to retain the aromatics and freshness of the wine. Tropical notes dominate, with a palate of lychees, passionfruit and a hint of citrus. A lovely summer wine to enjoy alone or with food.
