HAMILTON RUSSELL PINOT NOIR - 2017
Hamilton Russell Vineyards is the most southerly wine estate in Africa, located in the cool, maritime region of Walker Bay. The estate specialises in producing highly individual, terroir-driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The grapes were hand-picked into small tanks and given a cold maceration prior to fermentation, with a combination of cultured and indigenous vineyard yeasts. The wine then matured for 9 months in small French oak barrels with just a very light filtration prior to bottling.
A finely-oaked Pinot Noir, with aromas and flavours of raspberry, cherry, plum and hints of game that develop to a more complex, earthy, mushroom character with bottle age.
