Chiarli Rovereto Gavi di Gavi - 2014
Michele Chiarlo is one of Piemonte's truly great winemakers. The family owns 60 hectares of vineyards in three of the classic growing areas - Langhe, Monferrato and Gavi - and also have access to another 50 hectares through their long-term relationship with growers.
With volcanic soils dominated by chalk and marl, the Roverto sub-zone is considered one of the best for the production of oustanding Gavi di Gavi. Fermentation uses natural yeasts from the vineyard and takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine rests on its fine lees in tank for 3 months prior to being bottled.
This Gavi is dry and spicy with a pleasant mineral and floral tone and a mouthwatering, refreshing yet long finish. Serve chilled as an aperitif or to accompany hors d’oeuvres, seafood, Sushi and oriental dishes.
