	Musar's white is perhaps the least well known of their fascinating wines. Made from native Lebanese varieties, reputed to be the antecedents of Chardonnay and Semillon. The vines grow on the slopes of the Bekaa Valley, Northeast of Beruit, on their natural roots, ungrafted, in a soil of calcareous gravels. The young white wine is fermented in French oaks, then spends the rest of the year in barrique, before bottling. It is not released for sale for another 6 years. Unsurprisingly the style is similar to oak aged white Riojas, or a dry, almost earthy Graves - recall Merwah may be Semillon. A wine to serve with a full flavoured food, powerfully flavoured as it is itself: "Golden yellow in colour, with aromas of honey, tangerine, dried apricot, white raisin and vanilla. Light and delicate on the palate (some might dissagree with that!) it has a gorgeous, creamy texture and a vivid underlying natural acidity that brings everything into sharp focus" - quote, Sommelier Journal, August 2008. Musar themselves claim the wine, if properly stored will continue to evolve "for decades".
