Chateau de St Helene, Sauternes 2011
70% Sémillon, 27% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadelle.
The second wine from Château de Malle, a historic 27 hectare estate producing some of the richest, most luscious wines in Sauternes. The vines average 40 years old and the soil is sandy limestone and gravel. Fermentation is in barriques (30% of which are new) and then the wine is kept in barrel for 14-18 months before bottling. A firm favourite and very good value.
